Pier to Peak Half Marathon Photos

Santa Barbara’s Challenging Half-Marathon takes you from the famous Santa Barbara Friendship Dolphins Fountain at the edge of Stearns Wharf, past the “Queen of the Missions” and on up an elevation of 3996 feet to the Majestic views at La Cumbre Peak. Capture the panaramic layout of the city, SB Channels and the Channel Islands. You can see where you started from 13.1 miles (sea level) earlier.

Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association - GVGSA Fall Ball!

Santa Barbara Pix is proud to announce that we will be the official photographers for the 2008 Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association - GVGSA Fall Ball league! Mike and I will be at all of the games taking pictures from the 1st base line and 3rd base lines. In addition, Santa Barbara PIix is setting up a special page on our website just for GVGSA. We’ll let you know where to find this special page when it is ready.
This year, Santa Barbara Pix has shot the following college softball teams: Santa Barbara City College, Moorpark College, Cuesta College, Oxnard College, Alan Hancock College, Ventura College, LA Mission College, Glendale College, College of the Canyons, Pierce College, Southwestern College, Santa Ana College, LA Valley College, Golden West College, Saddleback College, Fresno City College, El Camino College, and Saddleback College. This year, Santa Barbara Pix has shot the following high school softball teams: Dos Pueblos, San Marcos, Buena, and Hueneme. Finally, we have shot dozens of 14U, 12U, 10U, and 8U ASA softball teams from Southern California. You can see all our softball images at www.santabarbarapix.com.

30th McConnell’s Ice Cream Endurance Events - Photos

Mike and I were out today shooting the 30th McConnell’s Ice Cream Endurance Events. The weather perfect for running - cloudy and cool. Todd Booth, age 39 of Santa Barbara won the 5k with a time of 17:07. The first female finisher of the 5k was Annie Toth age 28 of Goleta. Tyler Rattray, age 20 from Santa Barbara tore up the 10k course with a great time of 30:00! Andrea McLarty, age 31 from Santa Barbara was the first female 10k finisher with a time of 40:48. 30th McConnell’s Ice Cream Endurance Events

SantaBarbaraPix will be out tomorrow photographing the 30th McConnell’s Ice Cream Endurance Events on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Goleta Beach County Park. Visit www.santabarbarapix.com to see all the action photos after the event (hopefully tomorrow night)!
The 5K run goes off at 8:30 and the 10K run goes off at 9:30. Participants can add a mile ocean swim to make it a biathlon. The Kid’s Mile goes off at 11AM and the swim goes off at 11:30.
5 year age groups for awards 3 deep, USATF certified 5K and 10K courses, mostly flat. Ocean front start/finish area, run is on bike path. Post-race fruit buffet and ice cream fest, ribbons to all finishers.

Ventura Splasn N Dash

Santa Barbara Pix will be in Ventura on Saturday, August 16th for the 3rd in a series of 4 Splash N Dash competitions. There are two race options: a sprint course (400 meter swim & 3K run) or the Long course (1000 meter swim & 6K run). Events begin at 9:00am on the beach at San Buenaventura Beach. See you there. Santa Barbara Nite Moves Week 16

Another fantastic evening at Leadbetter beach for week 16 of Santa Barbara Nite Moves. With only 2 more weeks remaining in the Swim, Run and Biathlon series, the competition is strong, but a good time is had by everyone. Join Santa Barbara Pix, XTerra Wetsuites (the official wetsuit rental company for Nite Moves) and everyone from RunSantaBarbara.com for what should be a great evening. Pictured above - the start of the swim, which 171 participants finished, led by Jerry Mahoney of Summerland in 13:09. The first female was Michellie Jones of Carlsbad. The 5K Run was won by John Plimpton of Santa Barbara in 16:26 and the first female was Sara Dillman, 6th overall, with a time of 18:23. The biathlon was won by Matthew Organista of Carpinteria in 35:58 and the first woman was Michellie Jones in 37:34 - who was 3rd overall…. Great job everyone.

SantaBarbaraPix will be out tonight photographing the Santa Barbara Nite Moves Summer Series - Week 16 events at Shorline Park and Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara. We’ll be taking pictures of the start of the swim, swimmers exiting the ocean near the swimming finish line, runners up around Shorline Park, and runners approaching and crossing the running finish line.
