SBCC Women’s Golf Captures State Community College Title

Asaka Sim shot a 2 over par on Tuesday as Santa Barbara City College Women’s Golf captured its second State Community College Title in the past 3 years. SBCC totaled 637 strokes in the 2 day, 36-hole tournament, 15 strokes ahead of 2nd place Sacramento City. Third place went to Palomar (663) and fourth place was Sierra College (664 strokes).
Sim also captured the individual state champion title.

Women’s Golf State Finals

Sisters Asaka and Sumika Sim both shot 79 today at the Women’s State Golf Finals in Ventura on the par-72 Olivas Links Golf Course. Jackie Molstad and jenna Boyle both shot an 84 for the Vaqueros.
Palomar College is currently leading with 322, followed by Sacramento City with 325, followed by Santa Barbara with 326 and Sierra College with 334.
The final round of the 36-hole event gets under way on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. and we will be there to cover the action.

Santa Barbara High School Water Polo (CIF Game)

Santa Barbara High School defeated Huntington Beach in High School Boys CIF Division I Playoffs today by a score of 14-3. The team travels next to to Newport Harbor on Friday to play the number 5 ranked team.

SBCC Women’s Basketball

The Santa Barbara City College Women’s Basketball season is about ready to begin Friday, November 7th, The Vaqueros’ host the SBCC Women’s Basketball Tournament. Eight teams will be competing on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. SBCC will play their first game on Friday evening at 8:00. The photo gallery is set up and can be accessed by clicking HERE.

SBCC Cross Country - WSC Championships - Santa Maria

The women’s cross country team was competing with only 5 runners due to illness, came up a mere 3 points shy of advancing to the Southern Cal Regional meet in Bakersfield.
Paige Colijn placed 7th over-all with a time of 20:19 over the 3-mile course, her best time of the season. She advances as an individual to the Southern Cal Regional meet November 7th in Bakersfield. SBCC Women Individual results: 7th - Paige Colijn 20:19; 31st - Amber Siddiqi 22:14; 36th - Ivana Sanchez 22:21; 49th - Sarah Gustavsson 22:54; 75th - Jennifer Houston 24:35
In the men’s competiton, Conner Mellon placed 26th in 23:01 in the 4-mile race with Matt Little taking 49th in 24:07 - both qualified as individuals for the Regional Meet.
SBCC Men Individual results: 26th - Conner Mellon 26:01; 49th - Matt Little 24:07; 72nd - Wesley Korpela 24:53; 77th - Lance Powell 25:16; 90th - Chris Costanzo 25:55.

Santa Barbara City College Women’s Soccer

Santa Barbara City College Women’s Soccer team played to their second straight tie today against Moorpark College at La Playa Stadium. The Vaqueros are ranked 10th and are currently tied in points with the ninth ranked Raiders, whom they defeated during their WSC Season opener in Sepetmber. SBCC Women’s Volleyball vs Ventura College

The Santa Barbara City College Women’s Volleyball team took on Ventura College tonight at the Sports Pavillion. Santa Barbara won the first game 25-14. Ventura came back to take the second game 25-18. SBCC rallied and took the last two games 25-13 and 25-22. Pictured at left is Alissa Coker scoring the 24th point in game four. Jessica Tune served over 10 aces in the match and excellent defense was provided by all members of the team. Next home game is against Cuesta College on October 28th followed by Oxnard on November 4.

San Marcos High School vs Laguna Blanca Volleyball

Santa Barbara High School v. Dos Pueblos High School Water Polo

Santa Barbara Pix was out this afternoon at Dos Pueblos High School shooting Varsity and Junior Varsity Water Polo. Santa Barbara High School and Dos Pueblos High School battled all the way to overtime, with Santa Barbara coming out on top in the Varsity match.
