Four races were held, small school girls and boys and large school girls and boys. Teams included Atascadero, Burbank High, Carpinteria High, Channel Islands, Dos Pueblos, Fillmore, Hueneme, L.A. Baptist, Lompoc High, Mission Prep, Newbury Park, Nipomo, Nordhoff, Orcutt Academy, Oxnard High, Pacifica, Pioneer Valley, Providence Hall, Righetti, Royal High School, Saint Bonaventure, San Luis Obispo, Santa Ynez, St Joseph, Taft, Templeton, Thacher, Ventura and West Ranch.</p>
<p>This was a non-scoring team event, but Burbank controlled the large school boys race with 5 finishers in the top six positions. Ventura girls placed 5 in the top 10 with Royal High&#8217;s frosh super-star Brianne Holland winning the race in 19:14.</p>
<p>In the small school races, San Luis Obispo&#8217;s Seamus Land (15:33) had a 6 second win of Nordhoff&#8217;s Gustavo Sanches (15:39). For the girls, San Luis Obispo Senior Christine Hoffman (18:31) had a 41 second win over second place Melanie Reimer (19:13) from Thacher.</p>

Over 350 took part in the 5K, 10K, Kids Mile run, Biathlon and 1-Mile Ocean Swim.</p>
<p>The 5K was won by Jason Brosseau from Lompoc in 16:11, followed by the first female, Jill Himlan from Summerland in 19:18. Following them was Jim Kruidenier and Mark Fennell from Goleta. Amy Jamieson &amp; Kelly Kannenberg, both from Goleta, followed for the 2nd &amp; 3rd place female.</p>
<p>The 10K was dominated by Justin Banks of Atascadero followed by Jason Brosseau and Todd Booth. The first woman to cross the line was Jessica Douglas followed by Mary Jones and Joy Zemella.</p>
<p>Also running the race was Drew Carey, pictured left, finishing in a very respectable 53:12 for the 10K course.</p>

Under cloudy skies and foggy weather, 160 athletes took part in the Sprint (1.5 mile run/10 mile bike/1.5 mile run) and Olympic (3 mile run/20 mile bike/3 mile run)  duathlons.</p>
<p>Event sponsors include Rudy Project, FRS, Hypercat Racing, Chamois Butt&#8217;r, Hammer Nutrition, Better Body, Fluid, Budweiser, Noah&#8217;s Bagels, RP Barricade, Santa Barbara Pix and RoadID. Thanks also go out to the California Highway Patrol for their help at intersections and throughout the race course.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Gaucho&#8217;s hosted San Diego State today at &#8220;The Pit&#8221; for a non-divisional lacrosse bout. UCSB allowed SDS to score first and then matched their goal, making a 1-1 tie. This back and forth continued though the first quarter, ending the first 15 minutes of play at a 3-3 tie. The score went back and forth before UCSB took a 2nd half lead 8-6 and never looked back. Final score: UCSB 15, SDS 9.</p>
<p>Aaron Hemeon was the leading Gaucho scorer with 4 goals. Goalie Andrew Noto had 7 saved shots on goal. See the photos posted at SantaBarbaraPix.com</p>

The 23rd Annual Santa Barbara Shootout, sponsored by Brine, was a meeting of teams, both college and high school, from across the country.</p>
<p>Rain on Friday and Saturday made for some challenging shooting conditions; not to mention cool temperatures and some wind. Despite the weather, Santa Barbara Pix managed to cover 23 games and 42 different teams. All three games, Frosh, JV and Varsity, were well played by both sides with only a couple of points separating the teams through most of the game.</p>
<p>Dos Pueblos came out ahead in the Frosh and JV Games, while the Royals took the Varsity game in a packed gym.</p>
