Thank you for your interest in doing photography for Santa Barbara Pix.
We are always looking for a few photographers to help cover sports for the remaining 2023-2024 High School Sports Season. You are free to choose the events you want to photograph. No minimum required. Most events are between Carpinteria and Goleta. We prefer to cover local teams and the team they are competing against.
A pro-sumer or professional DSLR body is necessary with the ability to shoot in RAW format. A larger file will allow for cropping that parents & athletes will appreciate and allow for better color/exposure corrections, if needed. Lenses appropriate for the event you are covering are also required.
Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Softball, Golf, Tennis, Waterpolo Baseball, Track & Field, Cross Country: 70-200 f/2.8 and up to 400mm, wide angle for select images, such as team shots and sideline huddles.
Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, Cheer, Dance Team: 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8, wide angle if doing group shots / team shots.
Creativity is welcome. Tack sharp focus is required. If editing your own images, final cropped images should be 3,000px X 2,216px at 300 dpi. (More details will be provided).
Each game photographed must have a minimum of 30 high-quality images. Try to keep the maximum at 100 for a single local team or 150 if both teams are local - remember, people will be looking through them. One horizontal image is needed for the event cover image, or a vertical cropped horizontally if resolution permits. More details will be provided later.
All submitted/uploaded images must be print/download ready. Try to keep the light balance similar throughout the gallery. Obviously, if lighting conditions change during the game (ie. sunny to cloudy), then work with what you have for a good look.
Payment is usually per game, including editing of images, and can be paid via Zelle, PayPal or Check. Currently for a single game, we are offering $100 when accepted images are uploaded and published. Special rates can also be arranged for tournaments.
